Alex has worked at RKH Specialty for 4 years on the Marine team. Alex was introduced to RKH having just set the 4 man speed record across the Indian Ocean in 71 days. The crew also set the youngest crew to row the Indian Ocean and youngest crew to row any Ocean. Alex then set out across the Atlantic in a US / UK joint venture team of 4 and setting the Atlantic speed record by roughly 11 hours with a crossing time of 35 days. The obvious next step for Alex is to step this up a gear and test himself in a pair. Sorry Jamie! When Alex is not rowing Oceans, he is actively involved with Offshore Yacht Racing and Inshore Day Racing. Alex also rowed at the University of Manchester where he met co-rower Jamie Gordon. Jamie coached Alex in his first year of rowing and now the tables have turned for Jamie to be the ‘Novice’ in this instance!
Jamie works in commercial property as a chartered surveyor and has done since completing an MSc in Real Estate Asset Management back in 2016. This will be Jamie’s first ocean row and a stark contrast from the rowing he is used to when at university where he competed for the University of Manchester at Henley Royal Regatta on two occasions. Although this is Jamie’s first ocean crossing, he spent his younger year’s dinghy sailing a national level. He is also an avid cyclist and has a keen eye for mechanics. Jamie will be a useful companion to Alex on this adventure.
